This classic hit from the Mamas and the Papas is presented here in an all-instrumental arrangement for 7 Horns and Rhythm section. The tune gets passed around the horn section so everybody gets the melody at some point, and most players are featured to some degree. The flute solo from the original recording is rendered here as a sax soli that begins in unison and splits into dazzling harmony.
Difficulty: the horn parts are not excessively range taxing. This would make for a fun instrumental feature on a program with anywhere from young players to community groups who don’t have the complement of a full big band. A fun piece to play, and fun for audiences to hear again!

This beautiful recording from the Beatles is presented here in an arrangement for trombone choir. The 5 ensemble parts serve as accompaniment to the vocals, and the Trombone 1 part has a more individual role in “answering” the vocals. None of the five trombone choir parts are very difficult, though the 4th part is a bit rhythmically persistent throughout. The key signature may pose a slight challenge for younger players. The higher vocal sub parts are rather taxing in the high range for sustained phrasing
Flexibility: This arrangement will work in multiple contexts. A 5-part ensemble can accompany a vocal ensemble, or a full 8-part trombone choir is possible. The Bass Trombone part is well suited to be played by Tuba if desired. Additionally, this entire arrangement conforms to the original artist’s recording in Key and Form. If desired, this chart could be used in performance along with the isolated Beatles vocals from their Anthology 3 album for a truly unique performance experience...trombones accompanying Beatles vocals!
This tender recording from Zach Williams & Dolly Parton is presented here in a performance- ready lead sheet.
This lead sheet conforms to the original performance: same key and same form. Vocal harmonies are cued above the full-sized notes of the melody. Dolly takes some liberties here and there, but not every inflection is notated every time.
Also available as in a package with the Piano/Vocal arrangement.
Additionally available as in a Lowered Key as a Lead Sheet or a Piano/Vocal arrangement.
This timeless classic from the Beatles is presented here in an arrangement for four trombones. It can really be considered as a solo feature for the lead trombonist, with accompaniment provided by the other three. Aside from some of the rhythmic demands of the melody, the range is not too taxing for any of the four parts for players of an intermediate skill level.
Flexibility: This arrangement will work in multiple contexts. Any of the four parts could be alternatively played by any other bass clef instruments: Euphonium, Bassoon, Cello, and the Bass Trombone part is well suited to be played by Tuba if desired.
Additionally, this entire arrangement conforms to the original artist’s recording in Key and Form. If desired, this chart could be used along with a pianist or a rhythm section if desired to fill things out a bit further.
Robert Shumann's classic work for solo piano is adapted here for solo instrument with piano accompaniment. The lyrical melody is well suited for treatment by soloists of all kinds. For brasses, the tessitra mostly sits in the mid-range of the instruents and only touches on the higher register in context with dynamic swells. A great work for the developing player!
Multiple parts are included for use by a wide variety of instrumentalists:
Elgar's classic march, used for graduation ceremonies every spring! This arrangement allows a small ensemble to perform this work in a flexible manner.
While initially scored with the standard brass trio in mind (Tpt, Hn. Tbn,), parts are prepared allowing any of the three parts to be played by any performer. In one manner, any complement of three brass players will be able to play this piece, since all players can see all parts it adds flexibility. In case of multiple repeats, players can switch off in playing the melody as desired to make for a less-repetitive performance.

This turn-of-the-century styled band piece gets an arrangement for small 6-part brass ensemble. Scored for trombone soloist plus standard brass quintet as accompaniment, this arrangement gives a trombonist with a lyrical upper register a chance to shine.
Scored for Solo Trombone, 2 Bb Trumpets/Cornets, Horn in F, Trombone/Baritone B.C., and Tuba.
A performance option: to obtain a more rounded “period” sound, it is recommended to use conical brass instruments throughout the accompanying ensemble where the trumpet parts are played on cornets and a euphonium is used instead of the trombone.

Here’s an easy-going swing tune to feature your trombonists! While usually the Trumpet and sax sections will carry the melodic duties in the jazz ensemble, this original from Aaron Hettinga gives your section the chance to shine with opportunity for solos and plenty of section soli playing.
There are plenty of texture changes around: tight high harmony, call & response, solo support, group articulations, great chances to showcase your trombone section and provide opportunities to teach developing players about ABAC form and ensemble.
While the top two bone parts can be a bit taxing in range (the lead part especially as it hangs around high C for the much of the last page) and remain ideal for advancing players, the lower parts (and remaining sax and trumpet pats) are mostly straightforward for what’s found in Big Band swing charts.
Also available as a standalone Trombone quartet with Rhythm section.

Here is an arrangement of one movement of Gustav Holst's band work "Second Suite in F" for Brass Sextet by Aaron Hettinga. This makes for a nice piece to play on a chamber music program, a chance to play some concert band literature in a smaller ensemble.

Here's a fun arrangement of the traditional spiritual for Trombone ensemble that is always well received. The melody gets passed around between the various parts of the ensemble and there's some tasty soli sections as well. A great option for wanting a swing-band type of chart on a Trombone choir program.
Scored for 4 Tenor Trombones and 1 Bass Trombone, the Bass Trombonist gets first crack at the melody with some space for light ad-libbing before taking on a walking bass role afterward. After an improv solo opportunity for the Lead Trombonist, there’s a section labeled “EXTREMELY Laid Back” featuring a large shift in rhythmic and harmonic density that works best when observing the wide dynamic variations, playing really light and easy before cranking out the accented off-beat hits and coming right back down before wrapping it all up at the ending.
This chart works well where an advancing ensemble is able to cover the range extremes on both the high and low ends by the Lead and Bass parts. There’s also the opportunity to keep all players on their toes as the Bb Minor key signature can surprise younger players with a number of unexpected G Flats.
MP3 recording included free with Sheet Music download.
